Des Pauvres de Lyon aux vaudois réformés

 Deux points semblent désormais acquis : d'une part le décalage d'une génération entre l'adoption de la Réforme par les vaudois et sa mise en oeuvre concrète et, d’autre part, le fait que cette adhésion a entraîné l’abandon des traditions religieuses médiévales des Pauvres de Lyon. Les études parues depuis 1988 ont attiré l’attention surtout sur les vaudois du Dauphiné et sur ceux de Fribourg (CH). Deux questions de fond restent d’actualité : pourquoi les vaudois passèrent-ils à la Réforme ? Que resta-t-il de leur passé religieux vaudois, une fois qu'ils furent devenus protestants ?

From the Poors of Lyons to the Protestant Waldensians

Two aspects would now appear certain. First, the difference of one generation between the Waldensians' decision to adopt the tenets of the Reformation, and the concrete application of this decision in the community. Second, their decision brought them to abandon the Poor of Lyons' medieval religious traditions. Studies published since 1988 have pointed particularly to the Waldensians in the Dauphiné and Fribourg (Switzerland). Two essential issues are still to be settled: why did the Waldensians embrace the Reformation? What remained of their Waldensian religious past, once they had become Protestants?
