In Summer 1280, the Savoyard castellany of Les Clées was the scene of the execution of an unknown number of Waldenses,who were burnt at the stake. These events are known through only one source, the account-rolls of the household of Count Philippe I of Savoy (1268-1285), an these are analysed in this article. After presenting the facts as the are reported in the source (edition, p. 248), the authors put them into the context of the repression of heresy in the 13th century and into the context of regional politics |
